May 20, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a new suite of Asia potash assessments, effective May 20, 2025.
The new assessments are for granular muriate of potash (GMOP) CFR Malaysia, CFR Vietnam and CFR Thailand, and standard muriate of potash (SMOP) CFR Malaysia and CFR Philippines.
Additionally, Platts has refined its methodology for the existing CFR SE Asia SMOP and GMOP weekly range assessment (FKCII04 and FKCIS04), also effective May 20, 2025. Platts initially proposed this change in a subscriber note published on April 3, followed by a decision note published on April 16 in a subscriber note here.
The launch provides additional granularity to Platts CFRSMOP and GMOP coverage in the Southeast Asia region.

Price information for other related markets may be normalized and used for assessment purposes where possible.
Platts has changed the methodology and specifications for its existing CFR SE Asia SMOP (FKCII04) and CFR SE Asia GMOP (FKCIS04) weekly range assessments, effective May 20, 2025.
The newly launched assessments above will represent the CFR SE Asia SMOP and GMOP price, respectively, with the ranges derived from the new SMOP and GMOP assessments outlined above rather than being assessed in their own right. No new market information will be considered for assessment of the range. The specifications for CFR SE Asia SMOP (FKCII04) and CFR SE Asia GMOP (FKCIS04) have also been revised to align with the specifications of the new assessments.
For example, if CFR Malaysia SMOP was assessed at $290/mt CFR and the CFR Philippines SMOP at $320/mt on a given date, then CFR SE Asia SMOP would be reflected as a range of $290-$320/mt. The same applies to GMOP, where the three new assessments outlined above would be utilized to determine the CFR SE Asia GMOP range.
