Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts confirms it will launch a new clean Handysize tanker freight rate assessment reflecting flows within the UK Continent, effective date is July 1, 2018. This new assessment was first proposed in a note published on April 30, 2018. In that earlier note, Platts proposed a launch date of June 1, but is now delaying the launch of the new assessment following feedback. The new daily assessment will aim to capture newly established supply trends of refined products following a decline in the use of Flexysize tankers. The new assessment will reflect modern Handysize tonnage. The assessment will be published on a Worldscale basis to reflect how this route is most commonly traded. Platts will also publish a dollars per metric ton value for this route. UK CONTINENT TO UK CONTINENT: This assessment will reflect the UK Continent to UK Continent route for a clean Handysize tanker carrying a cargo of 30,000 mt. The assessment will reflect loadings from Rotterdam, Western Sweden and the Loire river, and discharge at ports including Antwerp, Immingham and Thames. This new assessment will be published in Platts Clean Tankerwire and Platts Tanker Alert page PGT 1910. Please send any feedback or questions to tankers@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
