Platts to add Gdynia, Gdansk to ports reflected in ULSD CIF NWE effective June 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will expand the list of ports reflected in its Market on Close assessment process for CIF Northwest European ULSD cargoes effective June 1, 2023, to include Gdynia and Gdansk in Poland.

Following market feedback, Platts understands that Gdynia and Gdansk are significant import locations for diesel and can easily accommodate Handysize vessels, while Poland charterparty options are readily available in Northwest Europe with ship owners willing to go to Poland for a small Worldscale freight premium.

The addition of these Polish ports to the ULSD CIF NWE assessment was first proposed on April 4, 2023: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/040423-platts-proposes-adding-gdynia-gdansk-to-ports-reflected-in-ulsd-cif-nwe-assessment

Platts will start publishing bids and offers for Gdynia and Gdansk in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for CIF NWE ULSD Cargoes, in addition to the ports currently reflected.

Platts currently publishes bids and offers for the following locations:

Belgium: Antwerp, Ghent;
