SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes move of some Americas petrochemicals MOC to 5 pm and 2:30 pm ET close

Platts Petrochemicals is proposing to move assessments for spot benzene (PHAAE00, AAKYD00, AAIUL00, AAIUN00, AAWDA00, AAWDB00), styrene (AAIKW00, AAJLW00) and all ethylene (AAOSR00, AAOSS00) in the Americas to reflect a 5 pm EST closing time. Cumene (AAQJC00) also would be reflective of the 5 pm EST closing time as benzene factors into the assessment calculation.

Additionally, following the announcement that Platts is will move all oil assessments in the Americas to reflect a 2:30 pm EST closing time, Platts Petrochemicals proposes to change all other petrochemical assessments in the Americas to reflect the same 2:30 pm EST closing time.

Platts Petrochemicals has previously announced a decision to move its daily spot methyl tertiary butyl ether (PHAKY00), toluene (PHAAR00, AASMY00) mixed xylene (PHBHN00, AASMZ00) and propylene (AAIKS00, PHAXJ04, PHAAA00) assessments to reflect the same 2:30 pm EST close in the Americas on July 1, 2016.

Currently, all Platts assessments in petrochemical markets for the Americas reflect a closing value of 3:15 pm EST. Platts launched a formal consultation into the closing time for its oil, petrochemicals and agriculture assessments in the Americas on January 26, 2016.

Platts invites comments, questions and other feedback by May 18, 2016, with a view to implementation of the proposal for the time changes on July 1, 2016.
