Platts discontinues sulfur CFR China spot and contract price assessment May 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued its sulfur CFR China, Spot & Contract (Molten, Crushed, Granular) ($/mt) price assessment, effective May 1, 2025.

Platts first proposed this discontinuation on Oct. 30, 2024, and a decision was published on Nov. 28.

The decision to discontinue was based on the limited activity and transparency in the CFR China sulfur contract market, as well as the presence of a parallel assessment covering spot activity for the same markets.

The historical price data for the discontinued Sulfur CFR China, Spot & Contract (Molten, Crushed, Granular) assessment can be found under the symbol FSSCB04 in the Platts price database.

The discontinuation will not impact the CFR China Spot (Molten, Granular) (FSSCC04) assessment, which reflects an identical range of markets but includes only spot market information rather than both spot and contract data. This assessment will continue to be published.
