Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to amend the flat rate basket for the 55,000 mt UKC/USGC Panamax freight assessment from July 1 to better reflect spot market activity and indications.
Platts understands that trans-Atlantic trading activity for dirty cargo flows to the US Gulf via the ports of Klaipeda, Tallinn and Ventspils has weakened, while relatively stronger trading activity has been observed via the terminals of the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.
Therefore, the new proposed basket would represent the average of three port-to-port combinations: Amsterdam-Houston, Rotterdam-Houston, Antwerp-Houston .
The proposed amendment would affect the following:
Symbol | Description |
AAKXC00 | Dirty UKC-USGC 55kt Wsc |
AAKXH00 | Dirty UKC-USGC 55kt Wsc MAvg |
AAKXN00 | Dirty UKC-USGC 55kt $/mt |
AAKXS00 | Dirty UKC-USGC 55kt $/mt MAvg |
These assessments appear in the Dirty Tankerwire and in the Platts price database, as well as on the following fixed pages: MH0918, MH1960, MH1961, SH1430, SH1431.
