Platts to launch CFR India West Coast, CFR India East Coast sulfur assessments; refines CFR India sulfur assessment May 8
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is implementing changes to its suite of CFR India sulfur assessments, effective May 8.
The changes will refine the methodology and add granularity to Platts' sulfur coverage in India. Platts first proposed this change on March 19, available here.
The changes are summarized below, followed by detailed explanations.

Launch of CFR India West Coast and CFR India East Coast sulfur assessments
Platts will launch two single-number Sulfur assessments, CFR India West Coast and CFR India East Coast sulfur assessments effective May 8.

Information regarding different location, cargo size and timing may be considered and normalized, where necessary, to align with the standard specifications listed above.
Change in methodology for CFR India weekly assessment (FSSIA04)
Simultaneously, Platts will change the methodology for its existing granular sulfur CFR India weekly range assessment, effective May 8. The assessment would reflect the granular sulfur CFR India price, with the range derived from the two new assessments outlined above rather than being assessed in its own right. No other market information will be taken into account.
For example, if Sulfur CFR India West Coast is assessed at $100/mt and Sulfur CFR India East Coast at $110/mt, then Sulfur CFR India will be calculated as a range of $100-$110/mt.
