Platts proposes adding Gdynia, Gdansk to ports reflected in ULSD CIF NWE assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to expand the list of ports reflected in its Market on Close assessment process for CIF Northwest European ULSD cargoes effective June 1, 2023, to include Gdynia and Gdansk in Poland.

Following market feedback, Platts understands that Gdynia and Gdansk are significant import locations for diesel and can easily accommodate Handysize vessels, while Poland charter-party options are readily available in NWE with ship owners willing to go to Poland for a small Worldscale freight premium.

Platts is requesting feedback on all aspects of this proposal, including the suitability of Gdynia and Gdansk as Handysize ports, freight cost considerations, and the effect of including Poland in the CIF NWE ULSD cargo assessment process. Under the proposal, Platts would start publishing bids and offers for Gdynia and Gdansk in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for CIF NWE ULSD Cargoes, in addition to the ports currently reflected.

Platts currently publishes bids and offers for the following locations:

Belgium: Antwerp, Ghent;

France: Bordeaux, Brest, Donges, Dunkirk, La Pallice, Le Havre, Lorient, Pauillac, Rouen;

Germany: Bremen, Hamburg Kiel, Rostock, Wilhelmshaven;

Ireland: Dublin;

Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam;

Spain: Bilbao, Gijon;

UK: Belfast, Cardiff, Clydebank, Eastham, Grangemouth, Immingham, Londonderry, Milford Haven, Plymouth, Teesside, Thames, Tranmere.

The CIF NWE ULSD cargo assessment is published in Platts European Marketscan and PGA page 1110 as well as in the Platts price database under the code AAVBG00.
