Platts clarifies the roll-over date of UK Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, wishes to clarify the roll-over date of its UK Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) price assessments, which was recently updated here(opens in a new tab).

While the compliance period for Platts' UK REGO assessments used to roll on April 1 each year, they now roll on July 2. This is to incorporate trading of REGOs until they are counted by Ofgem for the Fuel Mix Disclosure -- the main use of these certificates.

While the compliance period is now assessed from July 2 of the current year to July 1 of the following year, Platts still takes into account REGOs produced from April 1 of the current year to March 31 of the following year.

For example, CP-24 will be assessed as the current compliance period from July 2, 2025, to July 1, 2026; taking into account REGOs produced between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
