S&P Global discontinues average bunker cost assessments for three container routes April 1

S&P Global Commodity Insights has discontinued its daily, weekly and monthly VLSFO and LSMGO average bunker cost and bunker cost index assessments for three container shipping routes -- East Coast South America to US Gulf Coast, Europe to West Coast Africa and North Asia to East Coast Africa -- effective April 1, 2022.

The discontinuation, which will affect the fronthaul and backhaul legs on the three routes, is part of a streamlining of S&P Global data sets.

S&P Global will continue to publish the fronthaul and backhaul Platts Bunker Charges for the three routes: East Coast South America to US Gulf Coast, Europe to West Coast Africa and North Asia to East Coast Africa.
