Following an extensive period of internal research and industry feedback period which started on March 3, Platts will launch five physical crude oil assessments for West Texas Intermediate, effective April 26, 2016.
The new assessments will reflect the tradable value of second-month crude oil pipeline standard volumes for WTI ex-Midland, WTI MEH, and Light Houston Sweet to line up with the US close. In addition, Platts will launch assessments for front-month and second-month WTI MEH to line up with the London close.
The new crude oil assessment additions aim to capture market structure for West Texas Intermediate and will support Platts existing front-month and Free-On-Board assessments.
