SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to move select Americas Petrochemicals MOC to 2:30 pm EST close

Following the announcement that Platts is proposing to move all oil assessments in the Americas to reflect a 2:30 pm EST closing time, Platts Petrochemicals proposes to change its daily spot methyl tertiary butyl ether (PHAKY00), toluene (PHAAR00, AASMY00) mixed xylene (PHBHN00, AASMZ00) and propylene (AAIKS00, PHAXJ04, PHAAA00) assessments to reflect the same 2:30 pm EST close in the Americas.

Additionally, Platts Petrochemicals invites further feedback regarding possible changes to the closing times of other assessments in the Americas. Specifically, Platts seeks feedback related to changing daily and weekly spot assessments of select aromatics -- benzene (PHAAE00, AAKYD00, AAIUL00, AAIUN00, AAWDA00, AAWDB00) and styrene (AAIKW00, AAJLW00) -- as well as ethylene (AAOSR00, AAOSS00) to reflect a later closing time, based on initial feedback from participants in those markets.

Platts also seeks feedback related to changing all other petrochemical daily and weekly assessments to reflect the same 2:30 pm EST close in the Americas as oil and MTBE.

Currently, all Platts assessments in these petrochemical markets for the Americas reflect a closing value of 3:15 pm EST. Platts launched a formal consultation into the closing time for its oil, petrochemicals and agriculture assessments in the Americas on January 26, 2016.

Platts invites comments, questions and other feedback by April 15, 2016, with a view to implementation of the proposal for the time change for MTBE, toluene, xylene and propylene and any other resulting proposals on July 1, 2016.
