SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to end some Japan, S Korea fuel oil assessments

Following an extensive review, Platts confirms that it has decided to discontinue its FOB Korea and FOB Okinawa 1.5% sulfur 180 CST fuel oil assessments, as well as its FOB Okinawa 3.5% sulfur 180 CST fuel oil assessment from April 1, 2014. Platts has been assessing the grades in these locations since 1998. The assessments are currently published on Platts Global Alert, in the Platts Asia Pacific Arab Gulf Marketscan and in the Platts price database. This proposal was first announced on September 13, 2013, and reflects an evolution in trade flows that has resulted in those grades no longer being typically sold from those locations.
