Platts launches new daily recycled PET FOB Southeast Asia assessment for premium grade clear flakes

S&P Global Platts has launched a new daily recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) premium grade clear flakes FOB Southeast Asia assessment on March 24, 2021, in light of market demand for greater transparency and increasing consumer demand for recycled plastics.

The assessment reflects a recycled PET flakes quality specification based on an intrinsic viscosity (IV) level of 0.70-0.78, PVC content of less than 30 ppm and 100% clear in color. Platts may normalize price information about recycled PET of other specifications to the stated standard.

The daily recycled PET flakes FOB Southeast Asia assessment is published in $/mt and reflects cargo sizes of 20-200 mt for loading 3-21 days forward from the date of publication, from Port Klang in Malaysia, Bangkok in Thailand and Jakarta in Indonesia. Price information on loadings from other ports within Southeast Asia may be taken into consideration for the assessment and normalized for assessment purposes.

The assessment reflects standard credit and payment terms as per market practice. Price information on different credit terms may be normalized to the standard for the assessment.

Platts takes into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the Platts Market on Close (MOC) assessment process at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT). For the full description of the MOC methodology please refer to https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodologies/market-on-close.

The assessment follows the Singapore publishing schedule.

The new assessment and its averages appear on the Asian Petrochemicalscan, Polymerscan and Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 409, 574, 441, under the following price database symbols:
