Platts proposes to discontinue sulfuric acid FOB Japan and South Korea price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to discontinue two sulfuric acid price assessments, effective June 25.

The proposal is to discontinue the following assessments:

1. FOB Japan and S. Korea (contract, spot) ($/mt) ( FSAJA04)

2. FOB Japan and S. Korea (contract) ($/mt) ( FSAJA00)

The proposal to discontinue is based on the limited activity and transparency in the sulfuric acid FOB Japan and S. Korea contract market, as well as the presence of a parallel assessment that assesses spot market activity for the same markets ( FSAJB04) .

Both assessments appears in the Sulfuric Acid Market Report, S&P Connect and the Platts price database.

The proposed discontinuation would not impact the sulfuric acid FOB Japan and S. Korea (spot) (FSAJB04) assessment, which reflects only spot market information rather than including contract data. This assessment will continue to be published.
