Platts to revise European caustic soda FOB location and cargo size

Following market consultation, S&P Global Platts will revise the location and cargo size specifications of its weekly European caustic soda export spot price assessment, effective April 7, 2020.

The decision follows a proposal on February 11, 2020, in a subscriber note available here: http://plts.co/51jj30qlaPK

Platts will widen its assessment location from a FOB Rotterdam basis to a FOB NWE basis, to reflect other active export ports in the northwest Europe region, normalizing to Rotterdam.

Platts will also reduce the minimum cargo size from 10,000 dmt to 2,000 dmt, to better reflect typical volumes.

The specification changes will affect the following:

Code Description

AANTF00 Caustic Soda FOB NWE Weekly

Platts European caustic soda price assessments appear in Solventswire, on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 243, 380 and 391, and in the Platts price database under the code listed above.
