Platts to discontinue CPO and CPKO CIF Rotterdam assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will discontinue its European assessments for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO), effective May 5.

Market liquidity for CPO and CPKO has fallen significantly in Europe due to changing consumer habits, and ahead of the EU deforestation-free products legislation coming into force that will restrict palm-based imports beginning in December 2025.

The discontinuation will affect the following codes:

Assessment symbol Assessment
ACPKA00 Crude Palm Kernel Oil CIF Rotterdam
ACPKA03 Crude Palm Kernel Oil CIF Rotterdam MAvg
ACPOC00 Crude Palm Oil CIF Rotterdam
ACPOC03 Crude Palm Oil CIF Rotterdam MAvg

The discontinuations were proposed on Feb. 18, in a subscriber note available here (https://www.spglobal.com/commodity-insights/en/pricing-benchmarks/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/021825-platts-proposes-to-discontinue-cpo-and-cpko-cif-rotterdam-assessments), and will come into effect on May 5, rather than May 20, as was initially proposed.

The assessments currently appear in Daily Grains, weekly biomass-based diesel report and on the fixed pages PAA1808 and PAA1810.
