S&P Global Platts will launch a daily Chicago ethanol balance-of-month (balmo) derivative assessment, effective April 1, 2021. This decision follows a subscriber note proposing the assessment, published Feb. 12, 2021.
The assessment will be published from the first publishing day through and including the 15th of every month as an outright value in cents/gal, basis 1:30 pm Central time. The derivative assessment will reflect the Market on Close spot value of the Chicago ethanol (Platts) futures, listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Platts may use balmo and already-published prompt month derivatives when assessing the US ethanol markets through the calculation of various forward strips and differentials.
