S&P Global Platts has begun publishing four new daily spot container freight rate assessments from March 1, 2021, complementing existing box rate assessments and extending market coverage to an active and growing Southeast Asia to North America trade lane.
The new assessments cover the following routes, and are published under these codes:
These daily spot assessments will reflect the transactable value at 17:30 Singapore time, for transporting 40-feet equivalent, or FEU, containers on those routes, for loading five to 25 days forward from the date of publication. The assessments will be published in $/FEU, and will follow the Singapore publishing schedule.
Platts assesses key shipping regions under broad geographic descriptions.
The relevant descriptions for the routes are:
Southeast Asia: Hong Kong to Singapore
East Coast North America: Atlantic Coast including Canada
West Coast North America: Pacific Coast including Canada
These assessments will be published in Platts Dry Freight Wire; on Platts Shipping Alert pages SHP0514, SHP0510, MH3950, SHP0511 and MH3951; and in the Platts pricing database under the symbol codes above.
