Following a period of consultation, S&P Global Platts will increase the maximum non-aromatics content allowed in its European mixed xylene assessments to maximum 3%. The change will take effect on April 24, 2020.
Based on market feedback, Platts understands that market participants consider material with a maximum non-aromatics content up to 3% to be widely traded on a CIF ARA basis.
Furthermore, Platts understands that a significant proportion of mixed xylene delivered into the ARA region does not consistently meet a maximum 2% non-aromatics content.
As a result of this feedback, Platts has decided to change the maximum non-aromatics content in its mixed xylene assessments from 2% to 3%.
Material with differing non-aromatics content will be normalized to maximum 3%.
All other specifications remain unchanged.
Starting on April 24, 2020, Platts will reflect the following MX specifications:
Platts proposed the specification change on December 6, 2019, in a subscriber note available here: http://plts.co/MzAh30qkvxy
This was followed by a subscriber note published on January 16, 2020, extending the feedback period: http://plts.co/4u1630qkvxl
