S&P Global Platts has begun publishing daily European Biomethane Guarantee of Origin (GO) price assessments, effective February 23, 2022.
The launch of daily Biomethane GO price assessments for non-crop certificates is for the UK, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark assessing spot and year-ahead generation. The spot assessment reflects transactions for immediate delivery where contracts have a minimum validity of three months from the date of transaction.
The forward year assessment reflect transactions for delivery in the next calendar year of contracts that are issued in that same calendar year. These assessments are published in Eur/MWh for Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark. The UK assessments are published in GBP/MWh and Eur/MWh. Assessments are also be converted into their Eur/mtCO2e equivalent.
The Platts assessments reflect bids, offers and trades of a minimum of 1GWh of Biomethane GOs. Platts does not currently apply a maximum to the volumes reflected in its assessments. These assessments will reflect the value of Biomethane GOs at the 16:30 London time market close.
