SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Mexican steel assessments in pesos now to launch April 3

S&P Global Platts will start assessing Mexican domestic market steel prices in Mexican pesos starting April 3, 2017. A previous notice had said the assessments in pesos would begin March 1.

Platts is creating new symbols to assess these products in their home market currency. The existing product codes will continue to be published, but will be a US dollar conversion using the foreign exchange rate for the given day.

The change will affect the Platts hot-rolled coil domestic delivered Mexico monthly price assessment (product code: SB01145), cold-rolled coil domestic delivered Mexico monthly price assessment (product code: SB01086) and the rebar domestic delivered Mexico monthly assessment (product code: SB01199), which are published on the first day of each month in US dollars.

These price assessments are published on the SBB website and price analyzer. All other specifications will remain the same.
