In line with evolving shipping trends in the region, S&P Global Platts proposes to amend the cargo size on its Dated Brent and Cash BFOE assessments to 700,000 barrels, from 600,000 barrels, effective from June 2023 cargoes.
Platts has received support for a larger cargo size for the existing Dated Brent grades (Brent Brent/Ninian Blend, Forties, Oseberg, Ekofisk and Troll) as Aframax cargo size and tanker size in the Atlantic Basin have generally increased in recent years.
As part of this proposal, Platts invites feedback on the minimum cargo size which could be reflected in its Dated Brent cost, insurance and freight (CIF) Rotterdam and free on board (FOB) ship-to-ship (STS) Scapa Flow crude oil assessments.
Platts announced in April 2021 that Dated Brent cargoes could be offered on a CIF and STS basis down to a minimum volume of 580,000 barrels, but that these offers for smaller cargo sizes may be subject to normalization.
