S&P Global Platts is clarifying that US North American electricity assessments and indexes for the West do not include specified source transactions or deals associated with carbon adjustments.
California power imports are subject to California greenhouse gas emissions regulations. Specified source transactions meet certain aspects of these greenhouse gas emissions regulations and parties to these transactions are obligated to fulfill specific reporting requirements to state of California.
When calculating indexes and assessments, S&P Global Platts makes every attempt to exclude specified source transactions. Companies that report deals to S&P Global Platts aide in this process by clearly marking specified source transactions.
