Platts to include Puro Earth in the list of standards reflected by its carbon removal price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will include Puro Earth in the list of standards reflected in its existing tech-based carbon removal price assessments, as well as the BECCs price assessments proposed on Jan. 8. The inclusion of Puro Earth is effective from March 1.

Currently, Platts voluntary carbon price assessments reflect credits issued by the following standards: The Gold Standard, Climate Action Reserve (CAR), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Architecture for REDD+ Transactions, and American Carbon Registry (ACR), as set out in the Carbon Markets Specifications Guide available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/PlattsContent/_assets/_files/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/method_carbon_credits.pdf

Puro Earth will be added to the standards reflected in both current year and year one tech-based carbon removal price assessments.

Market feedback suggested that the majority of removal projects under development in the tech-based space are being certified under Puro Earth.
