Platts is seeking feedback on a proposal to revise the regional weighting for the Global Petrochemical Indexes effective March 14, 2016.
The proposed changes would assign an individual regional weighting to each product based on their regional capacity. The new weightings would be as follows: US Asia Europe Global Ethylene Index AAXVN00 0.24 0.48 0.28 Global Propylene Index AAXVO00 0.19 0.63 0.17 Global LDPE Index AAXVR00 0.19 0.37 0.44 Global PP raffia Index AAXVS00 0.14 0.64 0.22 Global Benzene Index AAXVP00 0.13 0.67 0.19 Global Toluene Index AAXVQ00 0.30 0.49 0.21 Global Paraxylene Index AAXVU00 0.09 0.85 0.06
Global Petrochemical Index AAXVT00 Ethylene 0.32 Propylene 0.24 LDPE 0.05 PP Raffia 0.14 Benzene 0.11 Toluene 0.05 Paraxylene 0.10
Currently, for each individual index the weighted average by region is as follows: 0.4 Asia and 0.3 each for Europe and the US.
For the Global Petrochemical index, the current weightings are: Ethylene (0.3), Propylene (0.2), Benzene (0.12), Toluene (0.08) paraxylene (0.07), LDPE (0.11) and Polypropylene Raffia (0.12).
The indexes appear on Petrochemical Alert, page PC900.
