Platts proposes to include Puro Earth to the list of standards reflected by carbon removal price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to include Puro Earth to the list of standards reflected by its tech-based carbon removal price assessments, such as the proposed BECCs price assessments on Jan. 8, and the existing Tech Carbon Capture price.

Until now, Platts voluntary carbon price assessments have reflected credits issued by the following standards: The Gold Standard, Climate Action Reserve (CAR), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Architecture for REDD+ Transactions, and American Carbon Registry (ACR), as set out in the Carbon Markets Specifications Guide available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/PlattsContent/_assets/_files/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/method_carbon_credits.pdf

Platts proposes to add Puro Earth to the standards reflected in both current and future tech-based carbon removal price assessments.

Platts understands that the majority of removal projects under development in the tech-based space are being certified under Puro Earth.
