SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts confirms discontinuation of 2015 RIN, RVO assessments

Effective February 1, 2017, S&P Global Platts will no longer publish 2015 RIN values for Ethanol RIN (D6), Biodiesel RIN (D4), Cellulosic Biofuel RIN (D3) and Advanced Biofuel RIN (D5). In line with the Platts methodology, the last assessment for 2015 RINs shall be January 31, 2017.

The assessments impacted are: Ethanol RIN (D6), published under lifetime code Cal-Year 2015 RD62015 Biodiesel RIN (D4), published under lifetime code Cal-Year 2014 RD42015 Cellulosic Biofuel RIN (D3), published under lifetime code Cal-Year 2015 RD32015 Advanced Biofuel RIN (D5), published under lifetime code Cal-Year 2015 RD52014

The discontinuation of the 2015 RIN values will result in Year 1 rolling code moving to the 2016 RIN assessments and the Year 2 rolling code moving to the 2017 RIN assessments.

Ethanol RIN (D6) rolling code RINCY01 will then reflect the 2016 D6 RIN and the rolling code RINCY02 will then reflect the 2017 D6 RIN. Biodiesel RIN (D4) rolling code BDRCY01 will then reflect the 2016 D4 RIN and the rolling code BDRCY02 will then reflect the 2017 D4 RIN. Cellulosic Biofuel RIN (D3) rolling code CBRCY01 will then reflect the 2016 and the rolling code CBRCY02 will then reflect the 2017 D3 RIN. D5 RIN Advanced Biofuel RIN (D5) rolling code ABRCY01 will then reflect the 2016 D5 RIN and the rolling code ABRCY02 will then reflect the 2017 D5 RIN.

Platts also confirms that in conjunction with the discontinuation of the 2015 RIN assessments, effective February 1, 2017, Platts will also discontinue the 2015 Renewable Volume Obligations calculation, under the code RVOY2015. This is published on Platts Biofuels Alert on page 302.
