Platts clarifies assessment descriptions of APAC coking coal China netbacks to FOB Australia

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, clarifies that the descriptions of the following two metallurgical coal prices, which are FOB Australia basis, freight netbacks of Platts corresponding CFR China assessments, should read as follows:

The descriptions correctly appear in the Global Metallurgical Coal Specifications Guide, but the word Australia is omitted in some publications. Platts is reinstating the omitted word across its publications on Jan. 8, 2024. Platts is additionally updating the revision history for its metallurgical coal specifications guide to clarify the April 2016 entry for these assessments.

The assessments appear in Platts Connect, Steel Markets Daily, Coal Trader International, on fixed pages MW0205 of Platts Metals Alert, ST0205 of Platts Steel Alert, GC1051 of Platts Global Coal Alert and in the Platts price database.
