Platts aligns Japan aluminum assessments publication with Singapore holiday calendar

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has aligned the publication of its CIF Japan spot Aluminum Premium and CIF Japan Forward Quarter Aluminum Premium with the Singapore holiday schedule, effective Jan. 3, 2023.

The assessments, which Platts publishes as a premium or discount to the London Metal Exchange's daily aluminum settlement price, previously followed the Japan and UK holiday calendars.

Based on the current calendar, beginning in 2023, there will be no CIF Japan aluminum spot and forward-quarter premium assessments published on the following Singapore holidays or days on which those holidays are observed:

New Year's Day

Lunar New Year

Good Friday

Hari Raya Puasa

Labor Day

Vesak Day

Hari Raya Haji

National Day

Deepavali

Christmas Day

The alignment of Japan aluminum assessment publication to the Singapore holiday calendar also affects related CIF Japan aluminum assessments and calculations.

All-in calculations, which add premiums or discounts assessed by Platts to underlying settlements from the LME, will only be published on dates that are working days in both Singapore and the UK. Monthly averages of all-in prices will equal the aggregate of published values only.
