S&P Global Platts will launch a daily spot assessment for packaging-grade recycled PET flake in the US Midwest region to broaden Platts coverage of the recycled PET markets, considering increasing consumer demand for recycled plastic. The assessment will be launched on Jan. 10, 2022.
The new assessment will reflect the following specifications and terms:
Contract: Spot
Location basis: US Midwest states, normalized to an FOB Chicago basis. Price information in adjacent regions, such as the US Southeast and East Coast, may be taken into consideration.
Loading dates: one to 30 days from the date of publication
Quality: Clear PET flake, which has been through a hot-washed process and derived from 100% post-consumer recycled content, with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.72-0.78 dl/g and a PVC content no higher than 50 ppm. Price information on recycled PET of other specifications may be normalized to the standard specifications.
Typical volume: One to five truckloads (approximately 40,000-200,000 lb)
Timestamp: 16:30 CT
Frequency: Daily
The assessments will be published on Petrochemical Alert page PCA0624, in Polymerscan, Platts Platform, Platts Market Center, and in Platts price database.
