Platts sets organic chloride limit for European naphtha specification

S&P Global Platts has added an organic chloride limit of maximum 3 ppm in the specification reflected in its CIF NWE naphtha cargo assessment (Code: PAAAL00), with effect from January 2, 2020.

Throughout a consultation phase opened August 1, 2019, Platts has received feedback from market participants as well as observed prevalent traded naphtha specifications in Northwest Europe to ensure it continues to reflect the prevalent merchantable specification in the region. The total chloride limit will remain unchanged at 10 ppm.

Alongside the implementation of the new specification on January 2, 2020, Platts will stop reflecting bids, offers and trades that specify chloride content.
