Platts has created new symbols for steel production and capacity utilization percentage figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and the World Steel Association (WSA). The WSA was formerly known as the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI).
The symbols are in market data category FA. The AISI figures (in tons) will update weekly, and the WSA figures (in thousands of metric tonnes) monthly.
Separate 'previous year' symbols have been set up for AISI US figures because the as-of dates for the previous-year values reported each week differ from the as-of dates for the corresponding figures as reported the previous year.
The new symbols are as follows; they are expected to begin updating on or about November 10:
