Platts changes to regional and futures commentaries in Gas Daily, Megawatt Daily, and Energy Trader

Following a period of market feedback and review, S&P Global Platts has redesigned the four regional commentaries in Gas Daily, four regional power commentaries, and two weekly power commentaries starting on June 15, 2020.

It also discontinued the NYMEX Natural Gas Futures daily market commentary, effective June 15, 2020.

In order to bring more concise and relevant market coverage to our customers, Platts has changed from block text to bullet point format of the following regional commentaries:

  • Northeast Gas Markets
  • Central Gas Markets
  • Southeast Gas Markets
  • West Gas Markets
  • Northeast Power Markets
  • PJM/MISO Power Markets
  • Southeast Power Markets
  • West Power Markets

The weekly Emissions Markets and REC Markets commentaries, which are published on Thursday of every week, also transitioned to the new bullet point format.

The redesign will continue to highlight key price drivers and market fundamentals, but in a more concise and easy to read manner.

All existing charts on the eight regional pages will remain and be unchanged.

In addition, Platts has discontinued the daily NYMEX Natural Gas Futures commentary. NYMEX contract price movements will continue to be covered periodically in market-driven news stories, as well as in the existing daily 24-month pricing table.
