Hydro output eases to 478 GWh on lower demand, higher wind
Year-to-date hydro output 44.5% higher on year
London — Spanish hydro power stocks fell in week 32 -- the seven days to Aug. 9 -- to less than 13 TWh, or 55% of capacity, narrowing the gap against historical averages for the third week in a row, environment ministry data showed Aug. 11.
The surplus to the five-year average fell to 2.09 TWh from 2.23 TWh the previous week, while the surplus to the 10-year average narrowed to 1.09 TWh from 1.22 TWh the week before.
Hydro output in week 32 eased to less than 500 GWh, from over 500 GWh the previous week, on lower demand due to higher wind output.
Total hydro output since the start of the year to Aug. 9 was 21.7 TWh, up 44.5% on the year.
