Stocks narrow against norms after rainy May
Hydro output firms despite lower stocks on low wind
London — Spanish hydro power stocks fell in Week 23 -- the seven days to June 7 -- to 15.85 TWh, or 67.6% of capacity, as the seasonal decline accelerates, environment ministry data showed.
As stocks fell, they narrowed their surplus against norms, so that their surplus to the five-year average fell to 2 TWh from 2.2 TWh the previous week, while the surplus to the 10-year average fell to 1.1 TWh from 1.3 TWh.
Looking ahead, some forecasts called for higher-than-average rainfall this summer, which could bring stocks to widen against norms.
Hydro output in Week 23 was slightly higher at almost 0.6 TWh from around 0.5 TWh the week before on lower wind output.
Total hydro output since the start of the year to June 7 was 17.3 TWh, up 46.7% on the year.
