Singapore — China's crude oil throughput hit a fresh high of 14.26 million b/d in November, edging up 0.8% from the previous high of 14.14 million b/d in October, with a significant increase in the crude processing volume emerging from Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical starting trial runs during the month.
NBS releases data in metric tons, which S&P Global Platts converts to barrels using a 7.33 conversion factor.
On a metric tons basis, the November throughput declined 2.5% from October to 58.35 million mt.
Over January-November, Chinese refineries processed 614.41 million mt or 13.44 million b/d of crude, up 3.1% year on year on a metric tons basis, NBS data showed.
The country's crude output was 3.9 million b/d in November, up 1.2% year on year and 0.5% higher than the level in October.
China's crude production rose steadily in 2020, with a 1.6% year-on-year growth to 3.91 million b/d over January-November, NBS data showed.
