Refinery: Garyville, Louisiana
Owner: Marathon Petroleum
Capacity: 578,000 b/d
Duration: Initial restart stages underway beginning Sept. 3; shutdown since Aug. 27
Notes: Louisiana's largest oil refinery now has a "reliable electric power supply and the initial stages of restart are underway" in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, Marathon spokesperson Joe Gannon said Sept. 3.
"Our terminal facility in Garyville continues to provide fuel to customers, business partners and local emergency responders," Gannon said in an emailed statement. "We are leveraging the MPC network of pipelines, terminals, marine and truck transportation assets to move fuel to where it is needed most. We appreciate the efforts of our utility provider and state and local officials to quickly restore electricity."
