Refinery: Garyville, Louisiana
Owner: Marathon Petroleum
Capacity: 578,000 b/d
Duration: Began Aug. 27
Marathon Petroleum reported minor damage at its 578,000 b/d Garyville, Louisiana, refinery from Hurricane Ida, a company spokesperson said Sept. 1.
"Initial assessments at our Garyville refinery have revealed minor damage, and we continue to assess other steps that will be needed to safely restart the plant," said Jamal Kheiry, Marathon Petroleum spokesman in an email. "Due to a power outage in the area, we are using generators to power aspects of our operations that enable us to progress with repairs and assessments, and we continue working on a timeline for resuming operations."
Marathon Garyville is Louisiana's largest refinery.
Ida made landfall on Aug. 29 as a Category 4 hurricane at Port Fourchon, about 100 miles south of New Orleans.
