Dubai — Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has appointed the former CEO of state-run energy firm Sonatrach as the new energy minister in a cabinet reshuffle, the state run news agency APS said on June 23.
Abdelmadjid Attar will replace Mohamed Arkab, who was named mining minister, APS said.
Attar held the position of CEO of Sonatrach from 1997 to 1999 after having spent more than 19 years at the company, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Algeria, which currently holds the rotating presidency of OPEC, produced 820,000 b/d in May, in line with its OPEC+ quota, according to the latest S&P Global Platts survey of the alliance.
