Thermal exports jump 75.1% on month
YTD exports up 23% on year
Houston — Ridley Terminals in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, exported 967,772 mt of thermal and metallurgical coal in October, up 6% from September, data from the Prince Rupert Port Authority showed Nov. 30.
The month-on-month increase was the largest in six months, largely driven by a jump in thermal exports.
October were also at a five-month high, and from the year-ago month exports were up 11%.
Through October, Ridley has exported about 9.3 million mt, up 23% from the same point last year.
Total thermal exports were 413,869 mt in October, up 75.1% month on month and up 14.3% from the year-ago month.
Through 10 months, the terminal has shipped over 4.3 million mt of thermal coal, up 61.4% from the corresponding 2019 point.
Met exports totaled 553,903 mt in October, down 18.1% from September and up 8.7% from October 2019.
Through October, met exports totaled about 5 million mt, up 1.8% year on year.
Petcoke exports were 231,721 mt in October, the most in 39 months. From September they rose, 227% and year on year, they were up 29.9%.
Over 10 months, petcoke exports totaled over 1.2 million mt, down 6% from the same point last year.
