Thailand's Ecoblue will expand its recycled plastics plant in Rayong to 10,000 mt/year, from 5,000 mt/year, by mid-December, a company source said Nov. 12
This plant will be roughly spilt into 50% recycled polypropylene and 50% recycled high density polyethylene from post consumer waste, the source said, adding that the plant will also have a US Food and Drug administration certification for food contact applications and usage of up to 100% recycled content.
The plant start up was delayed from October due to the pandemic, the source added. It had also faced logistics delay caused by the COVID-19 situation in Thailand.
"The current line is running at 100%," the source said.
Market sources said the expansion was welcomed as more companies look to invest in sustainability initiatives.
