Notes: During the startup of a polypropylene unit at TotalEnergies facility located in La Porte, Texas, the liquid accumulation in the purification section led to overpressure, causing flaring and the shutdown of the K5 compressor, according to a company filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The La Porte facility has a total of 1.15 million mt/year of nameplate PP capacity split between six units, according to S&P Global Commodity Insights analytical data.
The emissions event lasted 17 hours, according to a TCEQ filing.
A company spokesperson declined to a request to comment.
