Dow Chemical's propane dehydrogenation unit in Freeport will undergo maintenance for the next 60-90 days, according to olefins market participants May 19.
The PDH unit initially went down for an unplanned outage May 17 and subsequently moved up the planned turnaround that was originally scheduled for Q3 2021, according to sources.
The unit has a capacity of 750,000 mt/year, according to S&P Global Platts.
The company was not immediately available for comment.
Despite the PDH outage, polymer-grade propylene prices have remained stable to lower.
Platts assessed spot PGP at 74.75 cents/lb FD USG on May 19, down 0.25 cent on the day.
