Thailand's ENVICCO Limited, is expected to start a new recycled plastic plant with the capacity to produce 45,000 mt/year of recycled polyethylene terephthalate and 15,000 mt/year of recycled high density polyethylene at Map Ta Phut, Rayong, in the second quarter of 2022, according to a press release from PTT Global Chemical.
PTTGC owns ENVICCO with Austrian-based maker of recycled plastic packaging ALPLA, or Alpenplastik Lehner Alwin GmbH.
The exact dates were not published.
Market sources welcomed the news to promote a green economy and to reuse and reduce single use plastics.
Recycled HDPE prices were heard at $1,045/mt FOB SE Asia, down $5/mt on May 11 due to weak demand.
