US chemical rail shipments at 33,581 for week ended Feb. 6
Canadian weekly chemical rail shipments up 9.6% on year
New York — US rail car shipments of chemicals rose 2.8% year on year for the week ended Feb. 6, Association of American Railroads data showed Feb. 10.
US chemical rail cars totaled 33,581 for the week, compared with 32,672 during the same week in 2020. Year to date, US chemical rail cars totaled 169,879, up 4.1% from the same period in 2020, at which point there were about 163,188 chemical rail cars for the year.
Canadian rail shipments of chemicals totaled 11,795 for the week ended Feb. 6, up 9.6% from the same period in 2020. Year to date in Canada, rail cars totaled 62,176, up 9.8% on the year.
