Platts European Recycled Polypropylene Weekly Commentary

  • Buyers tempted by imports
  • Prices stable despite supply, demand imbalance

The European recycled polypropylene value chain remained tightly supplied in the week ended Sept. 22, though spot prices were firm as opposed to rising.

Demand was also strong across black and natural pellets as both the construction and the packaging sectors looked to the reprocessed market for material.

As a result, participants were increasingly receiving offers from outside of Europe, including Turkey and Asia. However, ongoing logistical challenges meant there was limited material being imported into Europe and the region remains tightly supplied.

Platts European Recycled Polypropylene Weekly Rationale

S&P Global Platts assessed recycled polypropylene black pellets at Eur1,030/mt DDP NWE Sept. 22, stable on the day and on the week, in line with corroboration of pricing at this level.

Natural pellets were assessed at Eur1,550/mt DDP NWE, stable on the day and on the week, in line with corroboration of pricing at this level.
