Harold Hamm founded Continental Resources in 1967 and was Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer until January 2020, when he was named Executive Chairman.

Based in Oklahoma City, Continental Resources is the largest leaseholder and one of the largest producers in the United States' premier oil field, the Bakken of North Dakota and Montana.
