Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched four weekly price assessments for clinker and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) freight, effective May 7.
Freight is a critical factor in the pricing of cement, clinker and SCMs, particularly as these materials are widely traded. Recently, Platts has observed greater volatility in freight costs, alongside shifting trade flows linking major export hubs in Asia and the Mediterranean to demand centers in South Asia, West Africa and Europe.
The assessments launched are: Clinker Freight SEA-Bangladesh (ASBAQ00), Clinker Freight SEA-WAF (ASBAR00), Clinker Freight Mediterranean-WAF (ASBAS00), and GBFS Freight China-NWE ( ASBAT00 ).
