Platts clarifies Middle East freight assessment criteria amid shipping disruptions

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, in line with its assessment methodology, will consider alternative routes for Middle East freight assessments amid shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz following the conflict in the region.

Platts will assess utilizing all available fixtures and market information within the region. In the absence of relevant fixtures, Platts will exercise judgment and consider related routes, such as West Coast India–North Asia and Red Sea–North Asia, when assessing values.

This includes benchmark assessment Clean Arab Gulf-Japan LR1 55kt (PFAEY10).

Platts continues to review shipping restrictions and their impact on the market.
